In a time of unprecedented regulation, many businesses have struggled to grasp or appropriately deal with their obligations written under statutory law by both the State and Federal Governments.

For these reasons many organisations choose to either ignore their responsibilities or make ad hoc attempts to comply. These attempts often fail against litigation and the authorities’ objections. Since 1985 almost every Australian workplace has been fundamentally impacted upon by the ramifications of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1985 (now superseded by the 2004 Act). This workplace safety movement brought about changes within businesses to ensure the safety of employees and consumers. It wasn’t until the release of the 1999 Occupational Health and Safety (Hazardous Substances) Regulations, that the chemical industry was forced to rethink its processes as its industry counterparts had done years earlier. Hunter Industrials embraced these regulations and began organising a program which would alleviate the burden of the OHS Act 1985 and the OHS (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 1999 for all of its business customers.

It was early in the new millennium that Hunters had developed its first huntersafe program. This program deals thoroughly with both the Act and new regulations and is tailored to each customers needs. The huntersafe program provides customers with; a hazardous and dangerous goods register, all material safety data sheets, risk assessments on all hazardous and dangerous goods, safe operating procedures, product data sheets and information on placarding, chemical storage and disposal of hazardous and dangerous goods.

Today, the Hunter Industrials huntersafe program continues to be redesigned and reinvented to assist organisations in dealing with their OH&S obligations.
