Green Star Performance

What is Green Star Certification? Green Star Certification is a process where a building, fitout, or precinct is awarded a Green Star certified rating. Hunter Industrials, through the huntergreen program can support our customers to deliver the Green Cleaning policy requirements of Green Star-Performance. The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) was established in 2002 to develop a sustainable property industry in Australia and drive the adoption of green building practices through market-based solutions. To receive the ‘Green Cleaning’ credits for compliance, a building’s green cleaning policies must outline the following aspects that are within the building owner’s (and contractor’s) control:
Cleaning Procedures
Monitoring Procedures
Cleaning Materials and
Cleaning tasks that are undertaken.

Environmental Products Index

EPI.jpg   in viro degradable bagsWhat is Hunter Industrial’s alliance with the Environmental Products Index? EPI is the developer, licensor and distributor of Totally Degradable Plastic Additives (TDPA®). EPI’s technology has been designed to control and manage the lifetime of products made from the most common plastics used by modern society. Conventional plastics, when discarded, persist for a long time in the environment. Our garbage bags utilise a special ingredient (epi) that accelerate the rate of the degradation by several orders of magnitude.  This means the garbage bags degrade and physically disintegrate more rapidly allowing garbage to decompose.

Forest Stewardship Council

FSCWhat is the Forest Stewardship Council? FSC is a stakeholder owned system for promoting responsible management of the world’s international forests. The focus of the Master-class session was the Huntergreen program and the knowledge developed across the sessions will enable the team to

  • Apply International thinking on sustainable business
  • Differentiate the ‘green’ facts from the myths
  • Identify green cleaning opportunities for our clients
  • Understand the key drivers of ‘green’ procurement across the different sectors
  • Help our clients meet Green Star-Performance rating of building operations
  • Accurately promote the health & sustainable benefits of the Huntergreen program

It was a jam-packed couple of days with extremely fruitful outcomes and the knowledge will support us in becoming industry leaders in sustainability.

Thank you Bridget!

How can you avoid getting sick this winter?

As part of Channel Nine’s A Current Affair program on Thursday 04 April 2013, there was a news item highlighting a potential lethal strain of the flu this season.

As you will see in the attached video, Dr Allan Hampson, Chairman of the Influenza Specialist Group (ISG) confirms the number of flu cases in Australia is increasing year on year.     In 2011, there were 20,103 laboratory confirmed cases of the flu, in 2012 this swelled to 38,480 cases and in 2013 there have already been two thousand confirmed cases without winter even hitting us yet.  Dr Hampson says this figure is alot for what we would normally see this time of year.

There are three strains of Flu – Swine Flu, Influenza A and Influenza B – and as reiterated in the news story, one of the best ways to protect yourself is being prudent with hand hygiene, especially in public places.

The GOJO and PURELL products will provide the perfect solution to protect your health and maximise your resistance.
